We are the Guardians of our environment

Guardian of our environment

This term we are learning about  being the guardians of our environment. We collected the rubbish of our lunch box and other waste over the last few days to see what and how much we throw away.
We were lucky to have Christine from Waste management who carried out an audit of our lunch box  rubbish on Thursday, 25th February. This was a good learning experience for our Junior School.

Junior School Splash

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Junior School Splash

The Junior School are looking forward to our Junior Splash on Tuesday 1st March at 1.30pm.  All classes will meet outside Rooms 11 and 12 for our welcome and programme orientation.  Students will be split into mixed teams and siblings will be put together.  Don’t forget to bring the camera as I’m sure there will be lots of magic momentsJ

We will run a rotation of 5 events, which will showcase learning from our aquatics lessons as well as water confidence and fun.  Our aquatics rotation will kick off just after 1:30pm and we aim to finish our last activity around 2:30pm.  As our little ones do feel the cold so quickly we will head straight back to classes to get changed.

All children are asked to come to school in their school uniform and are asked to bring:

§  Named togs, towel and cap in a bag.
§  Remember the rule:  no cap = no swimming.
§  Goggles are optional.

We look forward to seeing you.
Regards,
The HPS Junior School Team

Concept: This term we are learning about being the guardians of our environment. We are going to carry out an audit of our lunchbox rubbish and other waste over the next few days to see what and how much we throw away. This will be a good learning experience for our junior school so please don‛t be surprised to see your child‛s lunchbox coming home empty.
Activity Fee: The activity fee is due for the year so please pay this at the office. It is $65 for the year, however this can be paid by instalments each term.
Readers: Children must return their reading book in their book bag every day. If it is not returned no new reader will be given. Readers are very expensive and cost the school a lot of money to replace.
Iceblock Fridays:If you would like your child to have an iceblock, please remember to send $1 to your child‛s teacher on Friday morning, this is not compulsory.
Homework
Reading: Read your reader each night and your poem on Friday. Write all of these in your log. The logs need to be
handed in every Friday for marking and so your child can get their next certificate.
Spelling: Please help your child learn to correctly read and write their 5 spelling words so they are ready for testing each Friday. Knowing these words helps your child to read them in their readers and write them in their stories.
Maths:please help your child maintain their current maths knowledge and skills, and to develop new learning, by playing counting games at home.
